Today, like most Oregon spring days, is a day that begins with a completely overcast sky coupled with darker grey clouds – hanging below the upper-level, lighter grey – reaching down their diaphanous fingers to touch the black fir trees and Crayola green maples along the ridge line of Forest Park and threatening to obliterate any hope for sunlight or joy or riding bikes outside (instead of inside on the trainer, spinning mile after mile to nowhere), forcing me to take yet another dose of Wellbutrin and Vitamin D (5000 mg for the sunlight challenged) and wonder why it is I didn’t go to work for Alaska Airlines — friends and family fly free — except that I hate working with the public almost as much as I hate the incessant drip, drip, drip of the rain off the corner of the gutter.
